Klusterfunk - Friday 8 pm

Screenshot 2019-08-30 22.45.04.png

KLUSTERFUNK is an 11-piece, energetic party band with an agenda: to turn all the world's bad feelin's, into good feelin's! Their live show features (aside from silly, colorful costumes) a tight 4-piece horn section, bumpin' drums and percussion, heavy riffin' guitars, and 4 in your face MC's. Fusing punk, funk, latin jazz and hip-hop, they have a truly unique, raw sound.

But now, doesn't EVERY band say they're unique? Aren't you tired of hearing that? Maybe we're full of it! Come to a live show, and you be the judge! If you like us, give us a hi-five! If you don't, chuck a beer bottle at the drummers head!

My Son the Hurricane Headlining Friday Night

My Son the Hurricane

My Son the Hurricane

My Son the Hurricane is making its way through Kaleido Family Arts Festival (September 13 - 15), on Friday, September 13 at 9:30 pm.

Working hard to be the most energetic band in North America, My Son the Hurricane is a multi horn, multi drummer, multi singer brass beast — no dance floor is safe! The giant band has returned with a new full length album “Ride the Bullet” (Vegas Funeral Records) and a seven month North American tour for the full length release. The band which features a large horn section, full throttle rhythm section and two energetic front people, harkens back to the time when “entertainment was king” and are like a voltage enhanced Lawrence Welk.

For two and a half days every September, Alberta Avenue comes alive as an environment of creative exploration and performances on rooftops, sides of buildings, back alleys, parks, old spaces and new spaces. It is a celebration of community.

Moonchild Headlining Saturday Night

Moonchild

Moonchild

Kaleido Family Arts Festival (September 13 - 15), is thrilled to announce headliners, Moonchild, on Saturday, September 14 at 10 pm on the Avenue Central Stage (9210 118 Ave).

Moonchild is a combination of three independent, strong-willed spirits—Amber Navran [vocals, tenor saxophone, flute, keyboards, synth bass, drum programming], Andris Mattson [trumpet, flugelhorn, key-boards, synth bass, guitar, drum programming], and Max Bryk [alto saxophone, clarinet, keyboards, synth bass, drum programming]. The resulting union yields an ever-evolving fusion of alternative R&B and neo-soul. For as singular as each personality may be, they all participate equally in writing, producing, tracking, and mixing their records, collaborating as true equal partners. Not only do they create as a unit, but they also evolve, grow, and transform as one.

After that first shared piano bench session at the University of Southern California, the group unveiled their debut Be Free in 2012. Please Rewind followed three years later, and 2017’s Voyager saw them ascend to new critical peaks. NPR Music touted the record among, “Five R&B Albums You Slept On In 2017,” and JAZZ FM named them “Soul Act of the Year” for 2018. “Cure” toppled 8 million Spotify streams, and “The List” exceeded 7 million plays on Youtube.

Along the way, the trio performed headline shows everywhere from the United States and Europe to Asia, and supported other tours for the likes of The Internet, Kamasi Washington, and more. As they began writing and recording Little Ghost in 2018, the individual progression of each musician informed and elevated the creative process. While laying down tracks at a Lake Arrowhead retreat, Andris dove further into the guitar, incorporating it at the core of the new music.
