Their pop musicality is coloured by soulful blues guitar and a hint of jazz. Since forming in 2015, Jenesia has played over 350 live shows across Canada. Recent winners of the My United Way Voice Contest, this duo’s passion goes beyond making hit songs: Jenesia writes to encourage and inspire others towards justice. Music has always been a form of expression for K-Riz and one can tell this by his music. Inspired by artists such as Nas, Biggie, Prince, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, K-Riz’s goal is to create music that you can catch a vibe to.

The Honour Roll Collective is a collective of international musicians, singers, emcees, producers, and DJs. We work together live and in the studio to make soulful music.

Shima Aisha Robinson works for APIRG on the University of Alberta campus as the Programming and Working Group Coordinator. She advances her enthusiasm for anti-oppression work by volunteering, interning and working with local groups that address systemic issues of oppression and marginalization in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (aka Edmonton). She is an amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (Edmonton)-born poet and spoken word artist who embodies, with every poem, the ancient meaning of her chosen pen name. Dwennimmen is the name of an ancient African Adinkra symbol, which means strength, humility, learning and wisdom. It is no surprise, then, that this veteran of the Alberta poetry community uses a searing intellect and dynamic precision-of-language to create poetry which ushers her readers and listeners toward greater understanding and poignant reflection.

For Dwennimmen, poetry has long been a compass, a salve, an anchor and guiding light. She uses the potential and force of poetry to uncover the full range of her cerebral, linguistic and spiritual fortitude. This is why her every poem and performance testifies to an emerging power and wisdom, an authentic, deeply human potency which she hopes to pass on to listeners and poetry-lovers around the world.

We have developed a strong reputation, and augmented it with our standards of excellence in performing, musician’s experience, and bolstering the aspirations of young music students.

We have become one of Edmonton’s most important community resources in the field of music education, and a strong Canadian ambassador abroad. Edmonton’s music community has has shaped our direction, and we have contributed to the community in return.

Our membership is made up of accomplished musicians from all walks of life, including school teachers, professional composers, performing, or teaching musicians, university professors, advanced university students, and business professionals.

We have been featured throughout Alberta, at music conventions, festivals, and conferences including Music Conference Alberta, the Cantando Festival, the Alberta International Band Festival and the 2000 International Society of Music Educators (ISME) conference. Most recently, we performed at the 2015 World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) in San Jose, California. We were one of only a few wind ensembles worldwide that were presented with this honour--a milestone in our history.

We are proud of our rich past, and the lifelong network of relationships and camaraderie that we have built. Our history is filled with musical excellence, a strong belief in music education, and the promotion of Canadian talent.

Great groovin’ tunes, and we even have some vocal surf tunes. We’re not “The Beach Boys.” The Tsunami Brothers are the real “1960s” deal when it comes to surf. And boy oh boy, do we look snappy in our black suits, purple ties, genuine Ray Ban sunglasses and playing our “surf green” guitars. Not to mention our fun surf moves on stage! Groovy! In Gear! Fab! Cowabunga! There’s Mikey “Glue Stix” Tsunami. There’s Billy “Surfer Boy” Tsunami. There’s Kenny “Pretty Boy” Tsunami. There’s Johnny “Dreamboat” Tsunami. And, there’s The Tsunami Brothers’ very, very special surfin’ sister, Chantel (Wowie Zowie!) Tsunami.
