The West End Hot Club is a collective of musicians brought together by clarinetist Don Ross to play the music loved by Django Reinhardt in Paris in the 30s and 40s. It includes gypsy jazz, jazz standards and originals. For this joyous return to the Kaleido Festival Don is joined by Gareth Gilliland on guitar and Thom Golub on bass. Don is a busy session player and teacher. He plays regularly with the Gadjo Collective Balkan Band, St Crispin's Chamber Ensemble and groups like Opera Nuova, Mile Zero Dance, the Boreal Electroacoustic Music Society and many others. He teaches clarinet at the University of Alberta, King's, Concordia, MacEwan Conservatory and MusiCamp Alberta. As well, he serves on the board of the Edmonton Arts Council.
