Maros Hungarian Folk Dance Ensemble - Saturday 2:20 pm
/Saturday, September 14th @ 2:20 pm
Avenue Central Stage | 93 St & 118 Ave
Formed in 2000 and incorporated as a registered not-for-profit group in Saskatchewan, Maros embodies passion and deep respect for our rich and diverse Hungarian folk culture. Our goals include sharing this precious legacy with Canadian audiences, building their interest in Hungarian folk dance and music; sharing our skills with Hungarian-Canadian audiences, maintaining and promoting pride in our shared heritage; educating the public through performances and workshops; and encouraging youth to participate, supporting growth for the next generations of Hungarian dancers and musicians.
Maros presents performances and workshops frequently across the prairie provinces, for a wide variety of events including festivals, weddings, schools, conferences, and hospital/senior citizen’s facilities. Most recently, Maros has been developing connections with underserved communities (where a local Hungarian dance group does not exist). Maros also performs annually at the Western Canadian Hungarian Folk Festival, and has hosted this event in past years.
