Pangaea Arts and The Trollsons present The One-Eyed Troll, a story based on a Scandinavian folktale about an evil troll that has taken over the forest. Everyone is terrified, but a young boy out looking for some firewood just might have a solution.

The 30-minute storytelling show features two storytellers (without masks) that bring these unique and comedic tales to life with music, physical comedy, and improvisation. Audience members get swept into the action and become a part of the unique storytelling style.

Pangaea Arts is an intercultural, interdisciplinary world arts organization based in Vancouver. Pangaea Arts was formed to promote cultural interaction and the exchange of ideas between diverse communities and to introduce Canadian audiences to performance traditions from around the world. Pangaea Arts creates productions that educate by participation, encouraging audiences and artists to actively investigate different cultures and ideas.

Shima Aisha Robinson works for APIRG on the University of Alberta campus as the Programming and Working Group Coordinator. She advances her enthusiasm for anti-oppression work by volunteering, interning and working with local groups that address systemic issues of oppression and marginalization in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (aka Edmonton). She is an amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (Edmonton)-born poet and spoken word artist who embodies, with every poem, the ancient meaning of her chosen pen name. Dwennimmen is the name of an ancient African Adinkra symbol, which means strength, humility, learning and wisdom. It is no surprise, then, that this veteran of the Alberta poetry community uses a searing intellect and dynamic precision-of-language to create poetry which ushers her readers and listeners toward greater understanding and poignant reflection.

For Dwennimmen, poetry has long been a compass, a salve, an anchor and guiding light. She uses the potential and force of poetry to uncover the full range of her cerebral, linguistic and spiritual fortitude. This is why her every poem and performance testifies to an emerging power and wisdom, an authentic, deeply human potency which she hopes to pass on to listeners and poetry-lovers around the world.
